Moving with pets
Moving is a stressful time for everyone involved, but especially your pets.
We recently moved and had to travel and stay for a week with relatives before getting into our new home, with two cats, a dog, and kids; it was quite an adventure. We did what we could to make the whole process as stress free as possible.
When moving with cats or moving with dogs, they don’t understand what is going on or why they are being taken to a new place. Your new home is completely foreign to them and may cause anxiety in pets. Minimizing pet stress and anxiety when moving to a new home is important.
Have you considered your pet’s needs when shopping for a home? Different dog and cat breeds have different needs. Is the neighborhood pet friendly? You can’t always find the ideal place, but having your pets in mind before you decide on where to move can help to make the transition easier.
Once you have your new home there are steps you can take to prepare your pets to move as well as making travel and introduction into the new home as anxiety free as possible.
Here are some great tips for a stress free move with pets in a lovely infographic, courtesy of my friends at Taylor’s Relocations. And don’t miss “How to Safely Move With Dogs and Cats: The Ultimate Guide”.

Good tips! We hope we never move, though, and don’t have to use them. 🙂
Thanks for the great tips! I will definitely need them for our moving with my cat. She is very sensitive, so I hope that she will like our new place. Best regards
Great tips!
Nice infographic. I am going to send it to my niece who is getting ready to move.
Oh good! hope she gets something out of it
Love this! We are getting ready to move in two weeks and I can tell Jack knows something is up. My groomer actually offered to keep him with her on packing and shipping day so he is not stressed or worst– run away.
What an awesome groomer! I'd definitely recommend keeping pets somewhere till the move in is over. Plus, less chance they'll get outside in an unfamiliar area
Great infographic, thank you for sharing. We pinned it ! Purrs
The last time the humans moved it was only three blocks away! That was many years before I came here, but I hear all the cats loved the new house (the one we all live in now) immediately… and the dog kept getting out and going back to the old house.
At least he didn't have far to go so you could find him! Glad the cats settled in so quickly.
