Sketching Pets

by L. E. Mastilock

Making time for art.

I began keeping a very small sketch book, so it can be readily available when inspiration strikes! Lucky for me, my adorable pets provide plenty of inspiration. Thought I’d share some early sketches from a few years ago.I have some great cat photos there already, but will be adding some cat drawings and other art to Rascal and Rocco’s designs on our Zazzle store.

What would you like to see on a mug?

Or a mouse pad? Or canvas bag? Or, or? If you aren’t familiar with it, you can order many different awesome items on Zazzle with the artwork or photo you choose.

You may have seen these sketches already

if you follow my Facebook or Instagram. Playing around with the feline shape and my own kittys’ markings.

Rascal and Rocco as cartoons! I’m trying out different cartoon logo ideas.
Rascal Rocco: Sketching Pets
Practice sketch of Rascal and Rocco from the back. In this one, I wanted to get the boys’ markings right. I started out drawing them from memory, but when I looked, I was all wrong!
Took me forever to get Rascal to move to the right position, he was napping on the side I needed to see. And Rocco stayed out most of the day, so I couldn’t finish until I finally saw him! I had no good pictures of his right side, go figure!

I couldn’t sleep one night, but Max could! I got up and spent an hour drawing him. Wish my photo had come out a little clearer.

Lots more to come and stay tuned for some finished masterpieces that will be worth millions some day! Or something like that.

I am loving my new logo. Thanks to everyone who helped me decide on it!

Everyone loved the adorable kitty pic I used to use as my logo, of them loving on each other, but it didn’t quite represents these obnoxious boys! It was much too sweet.

Please contact me to order a custom portrait. I can do much more than what I currently show on this site. Watercolor, colored pencil, pen and ink, detailed drawing…. I better get some samples up for you to preview!

Speaking from the point of view of furries who own a human who can't draw a straight line with a ruler, we envy you guys. Your human can draw.

I've seen a couple of photos of R&R that looked kind of like a heart when they were curled up together. How about drawing the logo as a heart of them since they hold such a dear place in YOUR heart?

Yes they do have hearts on their sides when sitting up. That is a very sweet idea, but I'm thinking of moving away from sweet
