Siamese Nutrition #RoyalCanin Cats Are Not One Size Fits All

April 21, 2015 by L. E. Mastilock

You may think a cat is a cat, but there many different cats just like there are many different types of people. And just as one type of food does not meet the nutritional needs of every person on Earth, neither does one cat food.

Cats do not come one size fits all

#Siamese Nutrition #RoyalCanin #Cats Are Not One Size Fits All #catfood #cathealth

If all felines did come the same, then all kitties would fit nicely in the same boxes.

They’d also look, sound, weigh, and feel the same. This is not the case at all, of course. There are long hair, short hair, no hair at all cats with long noses, short noses, almost no noses and so many more differences; and these are just on the outside.

I found it fascinating when I learned from this Royal Canin® video on the PetSmart® website that Persians, in fact, pick up their food under their tongue and have trouble with some common dry cat food due to the shape. Cat health is harder to maintain if your cat can’t eat nutritious cat food.

Royal Canin® recognizes that all cats are not the same.

They have dedicated over 40 years to research on the differences in pet breeds and nutritional solutions. They have created breed specific foods that meet the specific dietary needs of cat breeds, providing individualized cat nutrition. They offer dog food and cat food in specific breed formulas as well as other nutritional considerations.

Take a look at Rascal and Rocco’s relatives. Do they look anything like them?

Okay, they are Siamese cats and everyone in this family has been adopted, so no blood relations. These boys are much leaner than my big husky short hair domestic fuzz balls. I couldn’t imagine them being satisfied by the same exact food content.

No, Rascal and Rocco have not had to welcome any new brothers, these cats belong to my mom. Or she belongs to them, rather. I grew up around Siamese and they are still one of my favorite cat breeds.

Siamese nutrition facts:

Siamese cats need higher protein and a moderate fat content to maintain their sleek and muscular build.

Prebiotics and highly digestible proteins help promote a
balance in the intestinal flora and maintain digestive tolerance.

Amino acids, vitamins and fatty acids help maintain skin and coat health.

Royal Canin brand includes this important nutrition in their Siamese cat food formulas.

Siamese fun facts:

The Siamese is one of the oldest breeds of domestic cats.

Originally from Thailand (formally Siam).
The Siamese’ dark markings are from a mutation of melanin production, which creates pigment.
The mutated enzyme fails to work at normal body temperatures, but becomes active in cooler areas of the skin, such as the ears, paws, and tail. As a result, dark pigment is limited to the coldest areas of the body.
Pointed kittens
are born white, since the womb is uniformly warm. As the kitten ages,
the cooler areas darken while warmer areas remain cream to white in color.
Siamese cat became one of the most popular breeds in Europe and North America in the 20th century.
They have been treasured members of the royal family.
Images of this regal cat have
been found in ancient manuscripts dating as far back at 1350.

I can see some of the similarities between Rascal and Rosco and their Siamese relatives! They have similar colors, just a different pattern. It’s great the Royal Canin has a food that meets the specific needs that Siamese cats (and other breeds) need. Sounds like a yummy food!

Hiya Rascal Rocco… You fits goods in your boxes. Mom says that Royal Canin am brilliant to have breed specific food. We didn’t know how Persians eat their foo before by placing under the toungue.
So Siamese need to stay lean kitties – me am part Siamese does they has Lil Bear foods with chickens???

-Benjamin Lil Bear who needs to stay leans and cutes so he can fit in boxes like Rascal and Rocco.

Interesting facts on the Siamese. Mom doesn't feed us commercial cat food but it is good to see manufacturers trying to do better.
