Rest in Peace Dragon

by L. E. Mastilock

Rest in Peace Dear Dragon

The loss of a pet is never easy. Whether it’s the loss of a cat, a dog, or even a pet lizard. My son found this lizard as a tiny baby and brought it home to care for it. We enjoyed many great moments such as learning ways to play with a pet lizard and pondering if lizards feel joy andΒ does a lizard fear?Β

Recently our beloved Dragon, as my son named him, became lethargic. After days of watching, waiting, and wondering if he would perk back up or not, he passed peacefully away. He crossed the bridge to run with his ancestor lizards forever.

Dragon, our blue belly lizard shedding his skin last month

Dearest Dragon,

You were so loved in our family. Though we didn’t have an extremely long time together, you brought so much joy to this family, especially one kid in particular.

This boy loved you, cared for you to the best of his abilities. He learned responsibility and gained confidence.

You lived long beyond anyone’s predictions, but to us, it was not long enough. You will be missed Dragon. You will be missed.

So loved, you even got two headstones. Both kids wanted to make you one.

The loss of a pet is not easy

Enjoy the eternal sunny rocks and never ending supply of crickets.
