We’re well into fall now.
Sorry if you were in denial, but the leaves have changed and many have already fallen. The brilliant autumn colors are all around. I love to watch the golden sunsets through the colorful orange, red, and yellow trees and over the golden grass. Max does, too! He’s outside most of the time now that we have property. Though, the weather is getting cooler and he does not like the cold. He had better soak up those warm rays of sun for as long as he can!

Being out in that grass and brush, Max is at risk of ticks.
I’ve told you before how devastating a tick bite can be for some dogs and why I take extra care to prevent them getting on my dog. Even if you don’t have this type of property, going out to a park, dog park, or even a simple walk outside or play in your backyard can yield ticks and fleas. They are pretty much everywhere and would love to come in to your nice warm home for the colder months.
Once it’s too cold for him, Max will try to hibernate inside. He likes to burrow into blankets, head covered and all. I won’t tell you how many times I’ve sat on him or had to kick him out of my sheets! He’s part Basenji and they like to burrow. They are from Africa originally, so not really cut out for the cold!
You may think winter time is safe from most pests such as fleas and ticks
But, I have experienced flea problems year round. With cats, a dog, kids, and even us adults, fleas get in. And it only takes one to quickly cause an infestation. Fleas will want to cozy into your warm home for the winter as well! I hope you’re ready! I love to curl up near the fire or sprawl on the carpet with my kids to play a board game. I DO NOT want to be itching or even to watch my kids or pets itch from flea bites.
As you know, Max is very allergic to fleas, so it’s not even an option to not consistently have flea control. We are already ahead of the game, Max has on his super force field of flea and tick prevention so they can’t be a bother to any of us.

I’ve been sharing over the summer how fantastic BRAVECTO® (Fluralaner) has been in really working for Max where other flea preventatives failed. He’s still taking his BRAVECTO chewable every 12 weeks and since he has no fleas causing him to itch, his skin and coat look amazing! This is probably also in part to his healthy, grain-free diet. Figuring out his dog allergies (grains and fleas) we’ve been able to cater to his needs and with the right mix of medicine, BRAVECTO, and dog food, he’s in the best shape!
I don’t plan to slip up now!
I’ll keep him protected year round. BRAVECTO is so convenient with just 1 tasty chew for up to 12 weeks of flea and tick protection. That’s just about 4 doses per year and Max is protected all year. I never have to worry about, or deal with, a flea or tick problem! He loves his chewable flea and tick preventative, anyway. He thinks it’s a delicious treat! It’s so easy to keep him protected, why would I not!

Wow! This is so true! As much as fall gives us beautiful earth colors, ticks and fleas abound too!
