Blog the Change for Animals

My son and I recently watched the YouTube video How Wolves Change Rivers. I had no idea one animal could make such a huge difference in our ecosystem!
Since then we’ve been learning all we can about, perhaps even become slightly obsessed with, wonderful wolves.
These beautiful, amazing animals are still misunderstood by the majority of our population and endangered. Folk tales have made them out to be vicious killers, but really they only eat what they need and are very loving social beings.
Tomorrow is an important day for the future of Wolves in California.
They’ve only just begun to return after an almost 90 year absence!
‘On April 16 the California Fish and Game Commission will hold a
public hearing in Ventura to make a final listing decision for wolves in
the Golden State. The Commission will also accept testimony on whether to ban wildlife-killing contests.
So-called “contest-hunts” or “derbies” that award cash and other prizes
to those who kill the most or largest animals (often coyotes) are
antiquated and brutal. They also put endangered species at risk’ per the Center for Biological Diversity.
It’s too late to get a letter or email out, if you hadn’t done so, but you can go to the hearing in Ventura, CA, click http://action.biologicaldiversity.org/p/salsa/event/common/public/?event_KEY=81697 for details on attending the rally and hearing. Don’t underestimate the difference one person can make!
If you can not attend, there’s still something you can easily do to help our wolves small populations grow and thrive-
You can help protect our North American Wolves:
Send a message here to urge the Obama Administration to: ‘reverse your proposed plans to remove federal Endangered Species Act protections from wolves across most of the Lower 48 states. Wolves must remain protected in order to fully recover’ per the NRDC.
Sorry that I'm so late stopping by, but thank you for joining us to Blog the Change. I'll be keeping an eye on this one – thanks for alerting all of us to what's happening. The wolves definitely need our help.

Amazing that after all this time and all we've tried to do to protect wolves — it feels like we're at square one sometimes. We must, must, keep up the pressure and continue speaking up for these beautiful creatures though! This is a fantastic subject for Blog the Change, and you covered it well.
I just checked, and California has decided to postpone their decision on this subject until July. We'll keep vigil. And you can remind us when it comes up, we'll stand with you on behalf of wolves.
Thank you for blogging the change for animals,

We have a wolf sanctuary not too far from where we live. These beautiful animals really do need as much help as we can muster up.
I have signed so many petitions to help the wolves. I know that's not enough. I pray the wolves and their families and habitats. I just hope and pray the people in charge will make the right decision to let these precious animals live and be free!
Never too much we can do. Wonderful that you've been doing what you can!
Please efurrybuddy, help my wolfie cousins! Wooooooowoooooooooooo!

Thank you for sharing this and making a change for the wolves. Have a great day.
We have a similar problem in Switzerland : wolves are protected, but as they came back from Italia a few years ago and killed some sheeps in the Alps (oops !), we were back with speeches of the Middle Ages about wolves… Purrs
Glad there are protection policies in other countries. Hope they came to their senses & kept them protected
