Monday Matters- Pets in Colorado Flooding

September 23, 2013 by L. E. Mastilock

Welcome to Monday Matters!

Where do all the pets go who’s homes have been destroyed by disaster?

Monday’s are the most ill-anticipated days of the week, they are the start to the long work week ahead. I guess I didn’t have to remind you of that. You’re thinking- thanks a lot and now I have no desire to read a bit further. Well, hold on for one more second and then you can get back to that dreadful day of yours. This isn’t about you and it’s not even about me.

This is a series I’ve been wanting to start for months, but for one reason or other have not gotten to it. One of those things I wanted to be perfect; maybe have a logo for it, at least a great photo or story. Perhaps contact a charity first to get an interview… Then I realized:

My main goal is to spread the word.

Share the message to help any little bit I can with causes I find important. I can add on fancy frills later on if I want, but as with most things in my life, if I don’t just take a deep breath and jump in blindly (learning to swim along the way), I’ll never do it at all. The best intentions don’t add up to much with no actions.

I don’t have much money, I can’t host a big fundraiser, but there has to be something I can do…

…there is! I can get the word out.

So, without further ado, I bring you the first, in a long line of Monday Matters, fantastic worthy cause for you to share, pin, like.. whatever way you can also pay it forward and start your week out right; thinking beyond the grind of your tasks today and doing something for someone else. Something so simple, just clicking a button to share.

So, where do all the pets go after a disaster?

BlogPaws, Be The Change for Pets lists some of the places that really need help as well as ways to help them. Please spread the word.

According to CBS news the National Guard’s wonderful motto was “No Pets Left Behind! “More than 800 pets have been ferried to safety with their owners via
helicopter, the National Guard said. Hundreds more were rescued by
ground crews. Livestock, like horses and cattle, were left behind, but a
monkey was among those saved.”
I will be featuring pet and animal related causes, charities, or something of the sort each Monday here on Monday Matters. You may want to subscribe to Rascal and Rocco so you don’t miss any! I’m also posting Monday Matters on my other blog for all other topics I find in need of some attention.

I have a list of other causes that are close to my heart on my Causes Pinterest board.

What are some causes, charities, and such that you know need to be heard?

Please let me know so I can feature them!

Rascal went out and it started snowing a little bit. He wasn't sure what was happening, but sure wanted back in quickly.
