Welcome to Monday Matters– Spread awareness to help important causes and start your week off right by making a difference each Monday, even if that is just to pin, tweet, or share to pass this information on.

Common Dog Breed Stereotypes myth busters. Know myth from fact about these popular dog breeds

Dog Breed Myths and Facts

Stereotypes of certain dog breeds are abundant in our culture. Media such as T.V. and movies have reinforced common stereotypes of dog breeds for generations. Some mindsets are so ingrained in us we can’t tell fact from fiction.

  • Are Golden Retrievers really the most loyal?
  • Are Dobermans and Pit Bulls dangerous?
  • Are St. Bernards Heroic?

This fun and informative slide show put together by DirectTV covers some common dog stereotypes to reveal if they are all T.V. hype or if they have some truth to them. Busting myths about behavior and attitudes of some of your favorite types of dogs.

TV Dog Breed Stereotypes, Myths and Facts

Take the time to really get to know a dog breed before adopting. Don’t count on television portrayals of certain breeds. However, some shows, like Dog 101 and channels like DOGTV are starting to break down the stereotypes and portray real facts about dogs.

This sounds like an interesting show! It is so difficult to break a stereotype once people place one on something. It is sad that dogs and cats get stuck in stereotypes too! They are all different and beautiful the way they are. 🙂

Golden Retrievers are most definitely the most loyal dogs on the planet. Mine used to follow me absolutely EVERYWHERE. He even scared away a black bear once! Ben was the most loyal companion I ever had.

Wow! That is one brave dog! They sure are amazing animals. They understand love much more than humans, I think.
