Curious Cat Must Know What is in the Jar

by L. E. Mastilock

My kids are curious about the world and intrigued by anything that moves, creeps, or crawls, so it’s no surprise to find a jar with a caterpillar in it on my kitchen counter. At least, it’s no surprise to me.

Rascal was quite astonished that something in the jar next to him moved! He watched it for a long while and I had to come to the poor caterpillar’s rescue when Rascal began pawing at it. I was afraid the jar would be pushed off the counter.

Rascal wouldn’t rest until he had fully examined that jar and he was pretty determined to get into it somehow. He followed me around, meowing, as I looked around the house for a safer place. There was no place safe enough indoors, so I finally had to convince my kids to let it go. They did, somewhere away from the house, where the cats wouldn’t find it.

Cats are definitely curious creatures and they notice everything! The biggest surprise, no Shock, my cat Maggie ever got was then we brought home a DOG! I believe she was utterly horrified when we first brought our Husky, Icy home, LOL! After that I don’t think anything else could compare…

I wish my human would catch a caterpillar for me to make friends with!

What would shock my kitties to find in our home…that’s easy! ANOTHER KITTY! The way that Patty O’Malley and Sweetie hang around the front door, all four cats are well acquainted, but if one of The ‘O’ Cats ever dared to walk in…well, I know I would be thrilled, but ‘shock’ would be a mild emotion for Angel and Chuck! LOL!
