We camped out with the kids in the back yard last night.
It was finally all dark and quiet. The kids had told all their spooky stories and everyone was still, watching the stars out of the top window of the dome tent, listening to each others breath.
Suddenly, there was a scratching sound outside the tent just to the side of the door! My side, it so happens. You could hear all of us intake a breath at once! We froze to listen. Silence.
Then we heard it again! Followed by an annoyed meow. I unzipped the tent door and let Rascal in, who promptly curled up in the warm spot of my sleeping bag where I had just been laying.
Moments later, Rocco came along and yowled loudly to get in. At least he didn’t use his claws. He just sat and stared when I opened the door, though, so I closed it against the night air and left him out there. Don’t feel bad, he could get into the warm house through his cat door any time he pleased. And Max was in there. You never know, he might curl up with the dog when no one is looking.
On another note
When I was editing the video of the cats “welcoming” the visiting neighbor, Rascal heard the commotion and tried to find where all that noise was coming from. He even looked behind the computer screen!
He never did figure it out, but he didn’t give up easy! I kept having to remove him. It took forever to get that video clip finished!
Oh, gosh, that would have ruined it for me. I would have gathered up my things and the kiddos and taken my scaredy-cat backside into the house LOL
Having pets at home means there will never be a dull moment. They make even camping in the backyard an adventure.
And it's so like them to stand a stare or take up bedspace while giving you the look. I see it with my dog's all the time. Glad you guys had a good camp out 🙂
Lol, typical kitty move — meow, wait for human to open door, sit there and stare at them. Oh well, at least Rascal was able to camp out with you. Maybe Rocco will try it next time.
That is so funny! My son & his friends used to camp out in our backyard. What great childhood memories that you are making. We used to go camping in they were young and once had a skunk visit the campgrounds. Hahaha! I'd much rather it be a kitty cat.
I think I'd rather have a kitty as well. Good times!
I had to laugh when you wrote "We froze to listen. Silence." All I could think was she must have boys! Same thing happened to us when I was camping out back with the girls when they were young and the screams woke up the neighborhood. Life with kids and pets is never boring!
Hope you have a great weekend!
One of each, thank goodness no screaming! lol! Never a dull moment, that's for sure!
That's so cool that the kitties wanted to camp out with you too! Glad you all had fun 🙂
We love that Rascal and Rocco wanted to join you and the kids on your backyard campout. We love our humans, but we like the soft, warm and comfy confines of the house! Besides, we're indoors only kitties. 🙂
Hugs and headbonks,
Moosey, Gracie and Zoe
haha!! Oh that scratching would have freaked me right out!!!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Oh kitty kamping! What fun!!
It's the latest thing!
Camping looks like fun ! We never did it with our humans ! Purrs
I think camping out with humans sounds like fun! But yeah, the bed all to myself sounds fun too.
How fun that the kitties could camp out with you! We are indoor cats, so we would have gleefully taken over the whole bed while the peeps were out sleeping on the hard ground.
I would have thought they'd prefer the cozy bed as well!
